SAY WHAT! QUESTION OF THE DAY: BLACK UNWED MOTHERS HIGHEST RATE AMONG ALL RACES :-(
Essence mag article shows study saying 72% of Black Moms are UN-WED! Highest rate among all races! Where did the Black family going wrong? and how can we get this percentage WAY down?
As a single mom who was also a teen mom, I have heavy emotions about this topic after reading this article. There is a saying that goes: "If you are a part of the problem, you must be part of the solution"...So thats what I have devoted not only my life but career to thru my "I Feel Beautiful" foundation and partnering with different positive influential men to incorporate life and manhood skills in workshops for boys. All children are conceived from some sort of love, whether it be love for the other person, love of attention, love of being a mom, etc, etc. Bashing and adding up #'s to give us even less encouragement is not the answer but conforming to what is being reported and just aiding it is not the answer either, as we pray for stronger family structure in our country and beyond, lets not forget the spiritual aspect of why marriage is so important. There is still hope, single mother or not, we all have a chance to make a postive difference and trust me it starts with Family! But then again, thats just my thoughts....
