The benefits are obvious: checking messages on the road, staying in touch with friends and family, efficiently using time once spent waiting around.

The downside: Often, we're effectively disconnecting from those in the same room.

That's why, despite all the technology that makes communicating easier than ever, 2010 was the Year We Stopped Talking to One Another. From texting at dinner to posting on Facebook from work or checking e-mail while on a date, the connectivity revolution is creating a lot of divided attention, not to mention social angst. Many analysts say it's time to step back and reassess.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle seemed to be on our side when they snagged some scoop from parents-to-be Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. When Mariah was performing at the 'Christmas in Washington' TNT special, she ran into the first couple, who asked if she was having twins, PEOPLE reports. While some might take offense to a question that insinuates a doubly-growing belly, Mariah couldn't play coy with the first couple and admitted she was indeed having twins and called the surprise a "double treat."

Cannon took to his radio show, 'Rollin' With Nick Cannon,' this morning to tell the story about Mariah's presidential run-in and to confirm that they are expecting double the trouble. "At this point she hadn't told anybody because doctors advised us to keep it to ourselves until we get further along," he said

"And because of the excitement, because of the emotion, she was overwhelmed [and] she shared with the President and First Lady that we are having twins."

The couple's precautions in letting the public in on their pregnancy news stems from Mariah's 2008 miscarriage, which left the couple devastated but still eager to build a family. Daily Scoop 12.16.10 COPS RAID WAKA'S HOME, ARREST GUCCI MANE

(AllHipHop News) Police raided the Georgia home of Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame this morning, in search of drugs, and reports of prostitution.

Waka's mother, Debra Antney, told TMZ.com that a number of Henry County, police officers raided the rapper's house and handcuffed Gucci Mane, who heads up the 1017 Bricksquad imprint.

Antney said police were looking for evidence of gangs, drugs and have found marijuana and weapons.

According to TMZ.com, Waka Flocka was not in the house at the time of the raid, but police will file an arrest warrant in a matter of hours if the rapper does not return to his home to submit to questioning.

Gucci Mane was freed, but two men in the house were charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Police reportedly also confiscated a Kel-Tec .223 sub-machine gun and a .40 Caliber semi-automatic.

It wasn’t at the same time and the thing about life, life is crazy. Life isn’t something you can predict. All you can do is try to evolve and try to learn. I think that every woman that I was with, that I had a child with, they did deserve for me to marry them. Barbara Walters recently sat down with Oprah for a very personal interview that will air on ABC tonight. The Oprah Winfrey show is coming to an end after 25 years and Oprah will be moving on to her very “OWN” network in January. In the exclusive interview, Oprah cries while talking about her friendship with bff Gayle King, as well as her relationship with Stedman. She also reveals that the “gay rumors” irritates her.

Oprah and Stedman have been together almost 25 years, and although they live together, they have never tied the knot. During the interview with Barbara Walters, Oprah describes Stedman as “the love of my life”

Daily Scoop 12.9.10 Trinidad Government May Be Audited for Spending Over $800,000 On Nicki Minaj Concert

Nicki Minaj’s hometown of Trinidad and Tobago is in hot water after spending over $869,000 on a concert featuring Nicki Minaj last month. The concert was widely publicized in the media and also featured on Nicki Minaj’s MTV documentary “My Time Now”.

Expenses for the concert included local advertising costs of $150,000, local culture costs of $26,000, a local fashion show – $60,000, boarding fees at the Hilton Trinidad for $60,343, and local artists fees of $40,000. Booking Nicki Minaj was the biggest portion of the costs which totaled over $382,000 (in Trinidad currency) for Nicki’s talent fee plus her entourage and agent fees.

According to a local Trinidad newspaper, the concert was held to launch the Ministry’s Localize It campaign however, not as many people came out as expected due to the pricing of the tickets. VIP sections for the show cost patrons $250 and $450. There was also a Kids Zone which cost $1oo for kids and $200 for Adults accompanying the kids. VIP and MTV Zones at the show (which were probably the best seats in the house) cost $900.

Members of the government are also being accused of denying funding to youth organizations because of the expenditure on the concert.

I hope it was worth spending tax payers money on the concert.

West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which came out November 22nd and received a five-star rating review from the magazine, sold almost 500,000 copies in the first week of its release.

Daily Scoop 12.8.10 YOUNG JEEZY ARRESTED IN THE BAHAMAS

(AllHipHop News) Young Jeezy was arrested in the Bahamas over this past weekend for an unknown infraction, according to the Bahamas' Tribune newspaper.

The rapper was slated to hit the stage during a concert on Saturday (December 4th) in Fox Hill, but was instead, taken into custody at the Wulff Road Police station.

According to reports, the rapper was simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time" when he was arrested and released, just before his performance at Club Luna, later that evening.

"He was here with us a short while, he passed through the station briefly on Saturday," officer-in-charge of the Wulff Road station Superintendent Ashton Greenslade told The Tribune. "He was booked in here and taken to CDU (Central Detective Unit)."

As of press time, police have not revealed the reason for Young Jeezy's arrest.

Saggy pants, a fashion that has be seen in some rap videos, is something Principal White just will not let slide. Bulletin boards display photos of students who have gotten “Urkeled” and the number of kids breaking the dress code has dropped significantly.

12.7.10 TI NEW ALBUM OUT TODAY NO MERCY AND TI 'S 4TH LETTER FROM JAIL

So here it is...NO MERCY, the most honest and intimate installment of my life story as promised. Hope y'all enjoy it and it lives up to the very high standards I've set for myself or anyone who's to be considered one of the best. I must admit it takes a lot to go through as much as I have and still keep the love in your heart and in your art. But at the end of the day, if that's what it takes to produce the music that keeps the world of hip-hop evolving on it's axis....Then even the lowest of the lows of my life was all worth it. Thanks again for your prayers, your time and attention. And remember....It does'nt matter how long it'll be before the next time you see me. What matters is that I'll be a better man before that time comes. The longer I sit, the smarter I get.

I'd like to give a vey special thank you to all the fans who've been writing me and lifting my spirits everyday. I read all of them. Although I would never be able to write you all back...I'd like to list as many of you individualy as i can and thank the others collectively. It's a relief to know that there still are people who see a man with a life and not just another headline in the news. The Daily Beast released its first-annual ranking of the year's highest-paid reality stars, and topping the list is "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star Kim Kardashian.

The ubiquitous red-carpet walker rolled up an estimated $6 million thanks to deals with everyone from Skechers to Kotex and Quick Trim and a personal appearance fee that is rumored to range up to $75,000 per step and repeat.

We've been wondering why Kim Kardashian was growing recently. Well MediaTakeOut.com spoke with a person VERY CLOSE to Kim Kardashian this morning. And according to them, Kim is PREGNANT!!

The insider, who asked to remain nameless told MediaTakeOut.com, "Kim has been seeing Kanye [West] off and on for years now. But this summer, they [hooked up] five or six times." The insider continued, "Kanye told her that he didn't want anything serious, but Kim really likes him."

And now, according to the insider, she suspects that Kim Kardashian is PREGNANT. The insider explains, "Kim is being very secretive about everything. She calls [Kanye] almost non-stop and wants to know what she should do." The insider reportedly OVERHEARD the conversation between Kanye and Kim, with her OWN EARS.

Daily Scoop 12.3.10 JERMAINE JACKSON DEADBEAT DAD????

Jermaine Jackson owes so much in back child support his driver's license has been confiscated, and he's not getting it back until he antes up around $100,000TMZ has obtained court documents showing Jermaine owes $91,921.55 in child support for Jaafar and Jermajesty.  $3,000 a month really adds up.

The docs, filed by the L.A. County Child Support Services Dept., suggest Jermaine hasn't been very forthcoming on his income stream.  According to Child Support Services ... Jermaine claims his monthly income is $1,448 per month, but never filed the proper paperwork to support it.

The Department doesn't want to give Jermaine his driver's license back until he pays in full.  We could not reach Jermaine for comment.

Pretty interesting ... Jermaine's baby mama, Alejandra, has just been kicked out of the Jackson family homestead in Encino and she's none too pleased.

RIHANNA OPENS UP TO KANYE WEST IN INTERVIEW MAGAZINE ON LIFE AS A SEX SYMBOL AND WHEN SHE WANTS KIDS

Rihanna has remained notoriously private despite her superstar status, but in a new spread for Interview magazine the singer finally gets personal, opening up to Kanye West about her vulnerabilities, how she feels about being a sex symbol, and when she plans to have kids.

The interview, accompanied by a series of dazzling shots of the sulty star, is scheduled to run in the December/January issue of the magazine, and follows Interview's standard format of question-and-answer between two celebrities.

"How does it feel to know that you could have any man in the world? Or woman?" asked West, according to the transcript published by Interview. "How does it feel to know that you can turn straight women gay?"

"Is that a real question?" said Rihanna.

"Yeah," West replied.

"Well...Thank you. I don't know how to feel about that," she said. "I guess that's flattering."

"But just to have that level of power. How do you deal with it?" West asked. "No one woman should have that much power."

"I try not to depend on it," said Rihanna. "It's just a part of what's happening right now in my life, and I appreciate it. It helps a lot." The "Umbrella" singer, who found herself at the center of a very public scandal when attacked by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown last year, says she isn't just the tough rock star she appears.

"I do have a vulnerable side," she told West. "I think a lot of peo ple have a misperception of me. They only see the tough, defensive, aggressive side. But every woman is vulnerable...It's not a major part of who I am, but it's definitely there. I just don't like people to see me cry-I don't like to let them know when I'm bothered. You know?"

"I could probably learn something from that," the controversy-stricken West replied.

Rihanna also talked about the first time she met and auditioned for Jay-Z, a nerve-wracking experience for the then-unknown.

"I mean, I was 16. From Barbados. Like, you would never...The chances of ever meeting somebody famous or ever being signed-that was just a deadly combination," she said.

"Do you know any famous people now?" asked West.

"Huh?" Rihanna laughed.

The singer, 22, has moved on since her experience with Brown to a healthy relationship with baseball player Matt Kemp, and says kids could be right around the corner for the pair -- or way down the line
